Am I abnormal?
Am I abnormal?
Today, I suddenly felt like going to Ascalon. I then proceeded to give out 3 silver (All I had) to all the low levels around the town. Then I gave away about 100 materials. It was fun seeing peoples reactions. However, after all of this, I realized I was broke I must be really stupid or something.

Silver = Platinum
Abnormal? Nah. You're just a very kind and giving person. I am very much like that in real life, although I have only done that once or twice in my relatively long gaming life...

No, you are not abnormal: it's also called philanthropy and being charitable and it's nice when it happens. What's not nice is when it's not appreciated. I haven't handed out money in this game, but in WoW you used to get certain lowbies 'begging' off the high level characters and it was quite distasteful. Rather than give money, I'd craft items for them but they would then whine that it wasn't enough, they wanted cold hard cash for that 'uber' weapon they'd seen at the auction house. But like many things in life, one bad experience was enough to put me off so I stopped giving (disclaimer: I have not stopped giving to charity IRL, I'm talking in-game only )

A friend of mine has the same problem in WoW. He always says that the time they use to beg is better spent doing quests, earning money and xp at the same time.

Hell, I'm canceling my Wow subscription and the best way to leave is by dumping all your stuff on a newbie.

Sometimes doing something different is fun... often we forget these are games and the rules of life don't need to apply.

There is nothing wrong with that, I go to ascalon all the time and give away rare items that aren't worth selling massive amounts to people below level 12. I think everyone should do this.

That is very cool too do. I did that to someone back in my daoc days. I would also go around giving out huge ammounts of gold to newbies.
It also happened to me once playing anarchy online, got dumped a bunch of great stuff by someone who was leaving.

Yes... i quit EQ as well, and threw about 200kpp to random newbies (to my knowledge) along with any droppable equipment. It is one of the best feelings you will get playing any online game. Its not about getting that "uber sword of god bashing", its about helping others, and making their experience all the better.

I will go into Ascalon City and help anyone who needs it, via information or the like, or stop them from making a mistake, to get a bad rep, like trying to sell off armor. Which I hope we all know we can't wear from other players
I go to sell off some materials there when I'm desperate for gold, right now i'm back to about 2k which is small compared to the 15k I had when I got to Droknar's, I know it'll all come back so I'm not worried about it, but I give materials and weapons out all the time to lower level guild members, or those who just joined up because sometimes people just need a little help to survive, and it's better to be able to stand up to higher level things than to get your arse handed to you by them, believe me, I had that feeling way too much, still do sometimes against those Mursaat, without infused armor.

I'll usually give out gifts to people depending on what they ask for. If some guy asks for a single charr hide or something of the sort, I know that they are just one lousy step from perhaps crafting something they need. It doesn't kill me to be nice and give them that, and it makes them happy.
